The Castelnuovo di Garfagnana diorama was challenging and required a long time to complete. Castelnuovo di Garfagnana is a historic village which fascinates tourists with its castle. The choice to make this landscape came to me because as well as being picturesque, it is a square that lends itself to being represented as a diorama. One of the aspects I dedicated a lot of time to was the choice and arrangement of the stones that cover the castle. At the beginning of the work I thought of also doing the night version with lighting, but then during the course of the work I preferred to opt for daylighting only.

Project
When designing this diorama I didn't expect it to take as long as it did. The most challenging part was building the castle with all the stones and the large door from which you enter the historic center of the town. You can see the brick loggias and the small balcony with railing which are very realistic. The paving also took time to arrive at a design that replicates the real paving with holes. Like all dioramas, photos never give credit to the works, seen in person they are noticeably better and more realistic.
Materials
The material I normally use to make dioramas is expanded polyester. In this case I inserted some crushed stone for the first time to be able to build the castle walls. The roofs are made of processed and prepared cardboard. Several accessories such as characters and cars I simply purchased and aged.
