Diorama of a street in Peccioli in the province of Pisa

Visiting Peccioli and walking along the medieval streets I reached the end of the small village where Via Corbiano is located. A small street that struck me with the picturesque impact of the beautiful arched terrace and the ancient brick façade. In the following days I remembered this experience and so I returned to Peccioli equipped with my Canon and started taking photos. By now I already felt that the subject was the right one to do. You know… this is a feeling I get when I start a job, I have to feel it inside, already in my head, otherwise I wouldn’t even be able to start. The result was satisfying!

Project
The project for this diorama was complicated due to the many details that were present in reality. The details are the ones that make the difference when the work is finished. Convinced that the subject was worth representing, I got to work and started doing the proportions as I always do. This is always the first step for a diorama project, proportions are very important, everything must fit together. Usually we are talking about 1/78 scale. But it all depends on the subject and also on how big you want it.
Materials
In the diorama made with 90% expanded polyester I also used cardboard, plastic tubes, wire and sewing threads. On a small anvil I modeled the iron wires to make the gate under the brick arches, other details were also made of appropriately machined iron or aluminum wire. The favorite glue is vinavil, but sometimes I am forced to also use bostik type glues and in some cases super attach. Some plants on the balcony are made of plastic, while others are made of colored paper. A project that required around two months of work, working around 10 hours a day.
