Diorama of Santa Croce sull’Arno
Diorama of a portion of the square of Santa Croce sull’Arno
This diorama reproduces a portion of the main square of Santa Croce sull’Arno in the province of Pisa. The diorama is illuminated with external batteries. I chose to do this subject because it is where I live and I thought it was a good thing to reproduce it. The choice of this particular corner of the town is given by the beautiful medieval Gothic style building located on one side of the square. This square was recently redone, but some typical aspects of the Tuscan villages have remained. Observing this work you can notice many details that otherwise escape in real life because they do not attract attention, but only by observing this diorama can you appreciate the beauty of this simple square.

Project
This project was born with the intention of placing emphasis also on small towns in Tuscany which at first glance seem anonymous and insignificant. This is the place where I live and therefore for me it was a special subject, I thought about it and thought about it until one day I decided it was time to make this diorama.
Materials
This project is made almost exclusively with polyester foam and cardboard. The little tree located at the side of the square is made of real wood that I went to find during a walk with a dear friend. The biggest difficulty I encountered in this diorama was the large flowerbed located in the parking lot. Finding the right bushes for the scene wasn't easy but in the end with patience I managed the job. The lighting also took me a long time, finding the right color tone of the various lights took time and many tests, but in the end the result was more than satisfactory.
