Miniature roller spreader
Miniature of a roller coating machine for tannery processing
The roller coater miniature is fully functional in all major details. Change of rollers, rotation of the transport belt, rotation of the rollers in working order, leather detacher and belt lifter. This machinery is used to spread products and paints on leather. The system works by placing a blade called doctor blade on the back of the roller, creating a hollow into which the product is pumped and circulates continuously thanks to channels. The rotation of the roller on the doctor blade ensures that the roller holds the product between the knurlings and is released when it comes into contact with the skin. This machinery serves many purposes, not only to make a film on the leather but also to impregnate the leather with resins or oils to make it soft.

Project
Designing this tannery machinery, the roller coating machine known in jargon as Gemata, was not easy. Several problems arose during the assembly of the pieces. The arrangement of the various motors and mechanisms that allow it to function was truly arduous. The machinery appears very realistic, and if compared to the original, the difference cannot be seen even after a first glance.
Materials
Contrary to what you might expect by looking at the model made, in reality the rollers are normal electricians' pipes suitably machined. Most of the frame is made of wood and some other parts are made of plastic. Obviously for a model of this kind there are many other materials that I included, rubber, wire, brass, aluminium.
Leather tannery spray model. A working miniature of the spray that is used in the tannery, great for display.
Working fulling drum model. A working metal miniature for display and educational material.
