Miniature tannery rotary press machine
Dynamic model of a tannery rotary press machinery
More generally called Rotopress, this machine is used to iron or print leather. The leather passes through two rollers, guided by two rubber mats that stretch it. The upper roller is heated and can be shiny for ironing or satin for a matte appearance or even with a micro print that reproduces the design of the cowhide. The roller underneath is wrapped in a felt tape which allows the leather to be pressed during the passage. The miniature rotary press tannery machine made here has all automated functions.

Project
The miniature created in this gallery reproduces a classic dynamic and functioning miniature rotary tannery press machine. The three upper rollers were made with metal hydraulic pipes, while the carpet underneath is made of felt like in the real machine. One of the difficulties encountered in building this model was creating the movement of the roller change which is synchronized through a digital relay. Another partially solved problem was the coupling of the two plastic belts used to introduce the leather into the machine. in this case it was impossible for me to undo the two ends and in addition to strong gluing, I had to put on a very strong edge of tape.
Materials
For this miniature I used a lot of metal. The structure is made of plywood and many panels are made of cardboard and aluminium. In the miniature roller press tannery machine I made the carpet of the large cylinder underneath in felt. Other minor materials such as plastic and brass are present in the model.
Fully functional miniature roller coater. A model suitable for display for offices and companies.
Leather tannery spray model. A working miniature of the spray that is used in the tannery, great for display.
