Miniature machine for perching hides
This miniature staking machine for tannery hides gave me a lot of satisfaction. This is a machine that is used to soften the leather after it has been dried on the leather drying chain or even at the end of processing when soft leather is required. The machine works through a fabric belt that turns on rollers, as the leather passes through, which is inserted between the two fabric belts, in the lower part there are plates with pegs that press the leather, softening the fiber. The machine is very noisy and apart from the dust that is released from the leather it is not a polluting machine.

Project
To build this miniature hide staking machine I had to buy a sewing machine, because even though I went to a seamstress, I wasn't satisfied with the stitching on the stretch fabric carpets. I spent a lot of time in jewelry stores to find the right chains to model for this miniature, but in the end I bought them online. I found it very difficult to align the two fabric ribbons so that they did not go out of the guides, but with patience I eventually found the right calibrations. A very nice model to look at because it is very realistic.
Materials
The materials I used in the construction of this model are wood and plastic in equal measure. Then there are components such as the rubber cushions that I used and the rubber gaskets that are used to put on the top of the tubes, purchased from Bricoio. The striped transparent protective plastic on the sides of the model is made by cutting out vacuum bags. Other tricks I found to complete this miniature.
